Tiger Shark Rashguard
Famous Laverne, the tiger shark
$45.00
First time I saw Laverne it was in Honokahau harbor. And all next times it was also there.
I was so surprised by her when I saw her the first time. I thought there was a whale in the harbor that's how big she is!!!
She often comes and checks me out and it always makes my heart pound but she is very gentle and is just curious.
I think she might be 17 feet long. for the Europeans 3 feet=1meter. so she is bout 5 meters long.
Its like a wall if she is moving in front of you.
She is very impressive. But my fear for her dropped when I saw the dolphins were playing with her. She is a gentle giant.
She comes to you and than she comes by you.
I swam a lot or swim a lot in the harbor. So much is always happening there.
But I had some close encounters with other sharks that were not that friendly.
Its not that I am crazy, a lot of people swim in the harbor. (not in the channel of course)
I had one shark one time that came four times towards me and I can tell you that after the third time I was getting nervous.
I stopped her as I supposed too because sharks need to keep moving to keep its energy. Once you stop them, you redirect them. each time his eyes would turn white every time he hit my fin.
Once i was out of the water i googled ' Why are the sharks' eyes white?"
They actually pray when they do that> they are protecting their eyes when they attack.
In all the time i have been in the water i probably had 50 shark encounters.
It gives you perspective of what's important in your life. All the petty chit chatter in your head that was going on before and just after just dissolves. It's a very beautiful spiritual experience. You instantly feel gratitude for just being alive without wanting anything else. Very humbling. we should really live our lives with having an encounter every week.
it brings you in the moment and in a place of gratitude. And things that were important before the encounter are suddenly not that important.
